New Groomer Needs to Have HER Nails Clipped Grrrrr

EmmaLou, Golden Destroyer visited a different groomer today and when we picked her up she looked nice and clean.  Little did we know the groomer had cut a nail waaaaaay too far down and poor little EmmaLou was bleeding like a stuck pig.  You should have seen our back seat - looked like something died in it.  It took about ten minutes of me and Devoted Spouse holding her down with him cooing at her to calm her while I held a damp paper towel and applied pressure to her little paw until it stopped bleeding.  In the meantime, there was blood all over my carpet, all over the couch which fortunately had a towel on it and gobs of paper towels soaking up the mess - the pic shows some leaflets we had in the back seat that she walked on and you can see huge streaks of blood.  I just wannt go to that groomer and grab the nail clippers and clip HER nail til it bleeds and see how SHE feels. Don't mess w/my fur-child!  Oh crap on a crutch!

Poor little girl is so traumatized she just sort of fell over and decided she needed a nap!  My poor baby.

  1. Oh no! Poor EmmaLou. It is very traumatic. Sparkie was quacked as a pup and now I can't even hold her paw let alone come at her with the clippers. I have to take her to the vet for nail trims:( I would call that groomer & giver her a piece of my mind!!

  2. I would never take her back to that groomer again unless I had a really long talk with them about the pain and suffering they caused EmmaLou. Maybe they need to look into buying one of those Pedi Paws trimming things. Give her a big healing hug from me.

    God bless.

  3. @Linda @Mrsupole - I called and told them that particular person is NEVER to touch EmmaLou EVER again. Period! It's happened before, it can happen easily and it doesn't usually hurt them but this time she was cut way too far and she really bled and she was in pain. She got extra lovin's and treats and both DS and I just held her until she calmed down and the bleeding finally stopped. Ooooh I was so mad. My vet will do it for free so I think from now on I'm requesting no one else trim her nails. At least the nice folks at my vet know what they're doing. Grrrrr. Still angry.

  5. The Amazing Ms G: - My lil girl bled so much this time it actually frightened me and I could tell she was traumatized and it hurt her. I was flat out furious - I called and really gave them a piece of my mind (and gawd knows I can't afford to lose any more of my mind...) I'm okay with anyone's blood but my own. Strange. But I got a little teary coz she's just a dog and doesn't understand why these things happen. Grrrr. Bad groomer, bad.

  6. That's awful, poor EmmaLou - I am sending big doggie hugs to her.

I can really understand you getting so angry, I am an extremely shy person but I would have done exactly the same.

I can feel a little tear in my eye just thinking about it - doggies are such lovely kind and trusting little souls and I am so please EmmaLou has you to take care of her.

My sister is on holiday this week and I am looking after her dog and it is so nice to have one making a mess of the house again :)

    Take Care,
    Angel.

p.s. Thank you for your email - I have replied :)

  8. There's something beyond poignancy when we see animals in pain...

  9. The Divine MsG - u know how I feel - I cried and cried. NOBODY hurts my precious pup without a severe tongue lashing from me - and u don't want to cross me. Truth.

  10. I know I'm late to this post. I did that to Lucy once and nearly killed myself. Since then I won't clip her nails. I was sick. I've never heard of a groomer doing such a thing!

  11. Sandy - I've had it happen a couple of times but never this serious - this was the groomer at the kennels where she stays when we travel and we have used this kennels for 6 years now. I am considering finding someone else - I'm THAT upset about it. I told them NO ONE is EVER to trim her nails there again. From now on I will take her to the vet - they will do it for free for me.
