Ya Wanna Hear Crap That Irritates Me?

I have two other blogs over on the WordPress platform as most of you know  Crone and Bear It and Parchment Monkey  I'd like to add a widget for The Library Thing to Crone and Bear It  - this is a great widget that shows the books you are currently reading or have read.  With that simple widget I could ditch the extra pages Currently Reading and 2010 Books Read and save a lot of time and effort.  But WordPress won't allow this type of widget.  Come on - fix whatever it is you need to do to allow java or flash or whatever it is you are concerned about.  Blogger does just fine.  If I had the time, I would transfer my other two blogs over here to Blogger - but that is too big a job right now.  So if you want to see some of my books - I now have Library Thing here on Oh Crap on a Crutch.  As for WordPress and their widget fidget ...oh crap on a crutch!

  1. I see lots of people switch to WordPress and I always wonder why. It looks mighty complicated to me. Guess you better consider coming back this way.

  2. I used to read books a lot now seems like I don't have the time.. Recently went to a book signing at BarnesNoble so I could do a blog post about it but haven't go a roundtuit yet

  3. Sandy - I like WordPress for its ease of use - I find it simpler to do more than Blogger with a few exceptions and one of those is some of the code that WordPress does not allow unless you host your own domain on WordPress.org which I don't want to do. Plus transferring 3 years of blog files from one platform to another is just not something I want to do so C&BI and Parchment Monkey will stay at WordPress.

  4. Joe - my problem is I have loved reading since I was a child - it is my very favorite activity - to become totally immersed in another world - I think it stems from my childhood which wasn't that great and books were my way of escaping. I still like to escape although now I enjoy learning also. I have never been to a Book Signing -- I have this thing about crowds...but there are a few I would have enjoyed attending.

  5. Oh I like that widget, it is very impressive - I hope wordpress get one sorted out soon.

Do you find that when you try to add a wordpress widget all of your existing ones jump about and you then have to spend ages putting them back in the right order. Then you always find one that has simply vanished!

    They are so frustrating.

  6. Angel - I like it too but I have lots more books to add. I haven't had a problem placing my WordPress widgets where I want them. You may need to contact WordPress support and ask them what is happening. They are very fast to respond and very helpful. Hugs!

  7. I hear your frustration. I've been wanting to put the Goodreads flash widget on my WordPress blog. But alas, it won't let me. So irritating!

  8. Leah - I still like WordPress but some of this stuff just is annoying. Their support is good, but they need to allow more features like Blogger. I like Goodreads too - nope, doesn't work on WordPress. grrrr. lol Maybe if enough of us keep complaining...I mean nicely requesting they fix this... ?
